Tasting Notes

Vinous Stephen Tanzer - 01 Jan 18
(Tremblay vinified this wine with 70% whole clusters to maintain vivacity): Healthy medium-dark red. Lovely spicy, floral high tones to the dark raspberry and licorice aromas. Dense, sappy and spicy in the mouth, conveying the creamy mid-palate texture of the vintage's better examples with a high pitch that I rarely find in lower-altitude Chambolles in 2015. (Again, the later bottling--in July of this year--appears to have been very constructive for maintaining vivacity.) Finishes with serious breadth, a firm spine of ripe tannins and lingering notes of dark berries, licorice and spices.

Chambolle-Musigny

Chambolle-Musigny, a prestigious appellation in Burgundy's Côte de Nuits, is renowned for its elegant, aromatic Pinot Noir wines. Known for their finesse and complex aromas of red berries, violets, and earth, these wines are often described as the most "feminine" of Burgundy. The appellation's two Grand Cru vineyards, Bonnes Mares and Musigny, produce highly sought-after wines with depth and ageing potential. Notable producers include Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé, Domaine Georges Roumier, and Domaine Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier, all celebrated for their refined winemaking.
